Nucleating agent
Semicrystalline polymers especially polypropylene(PP) has been used for many different applications including
automotive, packing, medical device and house appliance that requires enhancement of physical or optical
properties. Besides molecular chain structure modification through in reactor polymerization process and catalyst
technologies, the improvement of desired properties can be achieved by post reactor approach with additives.
The physical and optical properties of PP are largely related to the crystallization behavior and degree of crystallinity.
Crystallization temperature and rate of PP can be increased by introduction of heterogeneous nucleating sites, which
also contribute to spherulites size and numbers.
With materials modification by nucleating agent addition, PP can achieved the properties improvement of
(1) Stiffness
(2) Higher HDT
(3) Shorter cycle time
(4) Lower haze and better clarity
Rainwell develops and manufactures three different types of organic chemicals in application of nucleating agents.
(1) Benzoate metal salt,
Maxstab RY 501 as economical solution on physical properties improvement
(2) Organophosphate metal salt
Maxstab RY 511 and Maxstab RY 521 with balanced improvement of physical and optical properties
(3) Substituted sorbitol based chemicals
Maxlear RY 698 to achieve best clarity
